HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: SAYRE TO HOST 'BATTLE IN THE BOWL II' JULY 20 — FEATURING SVEC (July 6, 2024)

SAYRE -- Sayre Redskin football will host Battle in the Bowl II, a 7-v-7 high school football tournament, here July 20 at the Lockhart Street Bowl.

There will be 10 teams competing, with Sayre in the “Red” pool, along with Thomas A. Edison, Susquehanna Township, Schuyler, and Horseheads.

Athens and Waverly will be in the “Blue” pool along with Cowanesque Valley, SVEC, and Wellsboro.

Pool play begins at 8:30 a.m., with the semifinals slated to begin at 3 p.m., and the championship and consolation games set for 3:30.

Concessions will be available from The Sayre Booster Club, The Bluebird food truck, Chumpy’s, and Johnny D’s Ice Cream.

There is a $2 admission fee, with senior citizens and children under 10 free.

The “lightning” date is July 21.

There will be two games played concurrently, one at the south end of the field, and the other at the north end.
