OWEGO — The Owego - Card 10U softball team went 1-3 in District 7 action from June 27 to July 1.

Owego 9, JC 10U All-Stars 1
Down, 1-0, Owego took the lead with four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Four singles, two walks and a steal of home highlighted the rally.

Owego sandwiched three runs in the third between single runs in the second and fourth. Back-to-back doubles by Megan Card and Lydia Chase sparked the uprising, accounting for two of the runs.

Chase pitched a no-hitter, striking out 16 batters while walking three.

Card went 2-for-3 with two runs; Cora Henderson was 2-for-3 with a run; Chase recorded a hit two runs and two RBI; Laila Merchant added a hit, run and RBI; Alexa Brainard had a hit and two RBI; Harper Kretzmer and Sophie Weaver had a hit and an RBI apiece; Harper Middaugh scored twice; Adelynn Larson scored a run and Lucy Cerretani drove in another.

Vestal Allstars 8, Owego 0
Vestal scored six runs in the top of the third, then added a pair of insurance scores in the sixth.

Card accounted for Owego’s only hit.

Chase struck out 13, and scattered six hits and five walks.

Vestal scored all its runs in the first three innings, wrapping five-run first and third surges around a trio of runs in the home half of the second.

Chase had Owego’s lone hit, driving in Kretzmer in the fourth.
