YOUTH SOFTBALL: S-VE FALLS TO TIOGA IN WINNER’S BRACKET SEMI (2024-06-26)
Tioga County Sports Report
TIOGA CENTER — Spencer-Van Etten didn’t have an answer for Olivia Shugars and Layla Robinson as the duo combined to twirl a no-hitter to lead Tioga to a 13-1 victory in the winner’s bracket semifinals of the Tioga County 12U Softball Tournament Tuesday.
S-VE would muster up its only run in the top of the second inning when Kenzi walked, Kensley was hit by a pitch, and Amelia and Izzy walked, the latter base on balls plating Kenzi.
Tioga, up 3-1, after a solid start in the first, tacked on five runs in the fourth and five in the fifth to pull away and advance to the winner’s bracket finals.
Hailey Noe highlighted a 10-hit effort by the Tioga batters, going 2-for-2 with a home run, three runs and five RBI. Madelyn Rogers and Aniya Amerman added three runs apiece to the win.
Rylee Silvernail was named the S-VE game MVP and Madellyn Rogers was selected the Tioga game MVP.
S-VE is still alive and will face Newark Valley in an elimination game.
