GIRLS WRESTLING: OWEGO’S CRAFT, SVE’S BEACH, FANNING COMPETE IN SHOWCASE (2024-06-09)

SAYRE — A trio of local lady grapplers took to the streets to compete against Pennsylvania opponents in the first Duals on Desmond All-Star Wrestling Showcase Saturday.

Owego’s RaeAnn Craft, and Spencer-Van Etten’s Tayah Beach and Dallas Fanning, both of whom wrestle for Spencer-Van Etten/Candor scholastically, represented the local contingent.

Craft, the first girls wrestler to become a three-time Section IV champion, took on a pair of PIAA place-winners in Williamsport’s Lillian Rumsey (3rd at 112, 25-1 record) and Northeast Bradford’s Anaiah Kolesar (4th at 118, 28-5). Kolesar, the Northern Tier Sports Report Bradford-Tioga County Girls’ Wrestler of the Year, posted a 9-3 victory while Rumsey squeaked out a 6-4 decision.

Beach split a pair of bouts. She decked Sullivan County’s Emma White in 3:43 and fell to Towanda’s JC Allis by pin in 2:58.

Fanning took on Emma Renninger of Athens and lost by fall in 4:33. She was leading, 9-3, at the time.
