TIOGA COUNTY — The Owego Unified basketball team owns the spotlight today as it plays for the Section IV Division I championship.

The River Hawks will host the winner of Tuesday’s game between Norwich and Binghamton at 5 p.m.

Owego finished the regular season with a 5-1 record, earning the team a bye in the first round of the playoffs.

During the regular season, the River Hawks defeated Norwich, 53-34, but did not compete against Binghamton.

The last two championship games were a split between Owego and the Patriots with Binghamton winning, 43-41, in 2023 and the River Hawks taking the 2022 title, 42-36.
