TIOGA COUNTY SPORTS REPORT: OWEGO’S CHRYSLER, PALLADINO, SCHUMACHER NAMED S.E.E.D. ‘ATHLETES OF THE WEEK’ (2024-05-30)

TIOGA COUNTY — A pair of track & field standouts, and a baseball player have been named the Tioga County Sports Report / S.E.E.D. “Athletes of the Week” for May 20-25.
Female Athlete of the Week: Jaelyn Chrysler & Stella Palladino, Owego
Chrysler, a sophomore distance runner, won the 1500- and 3,000-meter runs at the Section IV Class B Track & Field championships while competing in foul weather.
She posted times of 5:01.55 and 10:52.25, respectively, and won the 3,000 by more than 30 seconds. She also ran a leg of the second-place 4x400 relay.
Palladino, a sophomore sprinter, won two events at the Section IV Class B Track & Field championships while running in inclement weather.
She won both the 100- and 200-meter dashes with season-best times of 12.87 seconds in the 100 and 26.06 seconds in the 200. She also ran a leg of the runner-up 4x400 relay.

Male Athlete of the Week: Talan Schumacher, Owego
The senior second baseman batted .400 (4-for-10) with a double, five runs, three RBI and three walks as the River Hawks went 2-2 and finished as the Section IV Class A runner-up, completing a 20-4 season.
Schumacher went 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI and a walk in an 11-1 upset over sectional champion Maine-Endwell. He also played errorless defense in the four games.
