IAC BOYS GOLF: CANDOR, S-VE, NEWARK VALLEY COMPETE IN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS (2024-05-22)

Tioga County Sports Report
HORSEHEADS — The Candor, Spencer-Van Etten and Newark Valley boys golf teams competed in the IAC championships at Soaring Eagles Golf Course Wednesday.

SMALL SCHOOL
Candor was fifth and S-VE seventh in the Small School tournament with team scores of 374 and 410, respectively.

As expected, Union Springs won the Small School team championship. The Wolves registered a 327 team score, seven strokes ahead of Tioga’s 334. Moravia was third with a 366 and Groton edged out Candor by one stroke for the fourth spot.

Tyler Greeno led the Coyotes, tying for seventh with Tioga’s Tyler Roe with a 13-over-par 84. Noah Banks tied 10th with Groton’s Conor Eldred, both shooting 86.

Jak Smith and Brennan Zimmer tied for 27th for Candor, both carding a 102 for the day, an teammate Max Fey was 34th with a 105.

The Coyotes were missing their No. 3 player, Kody Floyd, and Jadon Heidl.

S-VE was paced by Tyler Fedenko, who finished 13th with an 88. Jayden Stone and John Hastings tied for 29th with Logan Nasholts of Southern Cayuga and Ethan Nolan of Odessa-Montour, each recording a 103. Zach Hammond was 42nd with a 116 and Andrew Kinnetz tied for 47th with O-M’s Brycen Skinner at 123.

The medalist honor went to Union Springs’ Joey Sylvester, who shot a 78 to edge out Tioga’s Evan Sickler by one stroke.

LARGE SCHOOL
Trumansburg and Lansing tied for the Large School title with 357. Dryden was third at 371, Elmira Notre Dame fourth with a 397 and NV fifth at 466.

Isaiah Keith led the Cardinals with a 99, good for 17th place. Brady Woods tied for 24th with ND’s Caleb White at 114, Troy Blomberg was 27th with a 125, Keagan Morhman took 30th with a 135 and Chandler Baker was 34th with a 139.

T-burg’s Nico Potenza won the medalist honor with an 83.
