TIOGA COUNTY — The action is beginning to slow down as the spring season nears its finish, but the quest for championships is heating up.

Local athletes and teams will compete for titles in IAC and STAC track & field, IAC girls golf, STAC baseball, and Section IV boys golf individual medalist, baseball, softball, girls lacrosse and flag football.

Following is the schedule for the week.

MONDAY
Owego hosts Oneonta in the STAC baseball championship game.

The Spencer-Van Etten/Candor baseball team hosts George Jr. Republic in a regular season finale at Candor.

Owego visits Vestal for a Unified basketball game.

The IAC pentathlon takes place at Odessa-Montour.

TUESDAY
The Spencer-Van Etten/Candor girls golf team heads to Watkins Glen.

WEDNESDAY
The Section IV flag football playoffs are slated to begin.

The first day of the IAC Track & Field Championships begins at Trumansburg.

The STAC Track & Field Championships take place at Johnson City.

Newark Valley boys golf takes on Elmira Notre Dame at Mark Twain Golf Course in Elmira.

Spencer-Van Etten/Candor girls golf hosts Elmira at Catatonk Creek Golf Course.

THURSDAY
The Section IV girls lacrosse and softball tournaments start.

The first round of the Section IV boys golf medalist tournament gets underway.

Owego visits Maine-Endwell for a Unified basketball game.

The IAC Track & Field Championships finish up at Trumansburg.

FRIDAY
The Section IV baseball playoffs begin.

Spencer-Van Etten/Candor competes in the IAC Girls Golf Championships at Hillendale Golf Course in Ithaca.

Owego competes in the 3 Bald Guys pentathlon at Johnson City.

SATURDAY
The final round of the Section IV boys golf medalist tournament wraps up for those who have qualified.

NOTE: Seeding meetings for Section IV baseball, flag football, lacrosse and softball have not been held as of this posting.
