HS TRACK & FIELD: NEWARK VALLEY’S RHODES, RELAY WIN AT PARKHURST (2024-05-12)

ENDICOTT — Newark Valley’s Logan Rhodes and the boys 4x800-meter relay team captured top honors at the Parkhurst Track & Field Invitational Saturday.
Rhodes cleared the bar at 12 feet, 1 inch to win the pole vault competition.
The relay, comprised of Titus Callahan, Jackson Hoover, Marcos Escalante and Zion King, posted a season-best time of 9:07.2 to claim the victory.
Dan Truesdail placed fourth in the shot put with a heave of 41-10 ½ and fifth in the discus with a throw of 121-9.
Jackson Hoover contributed a fourth-place showing also, clocking 2:07.48 in the 800.
Zion King took fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 38-6 ½.
In the girls meet, Brook Illsley ran to second place in the 3,000, posting a time of 12:15.86.
Harley Switzer finished third in the 1500 at 5:14.65, Olivia Webb was third in the high jump, clearing 4-6, and Emily LaPorte leapt 30-4 ¼ to claim third in the triple jump.
The 4x800 relay was fourth with a time of 12:54.86.
NV competes in the IAC championships Wednesday and Thursday at Trumansburg.
