HS TRACK & FIELD: S-VE COMPETES IN FAST TIMES INVITE (2024-05-10) Tioga County Sports Report
CORNING — Spencer-Van Etten’s John Garrison and Tyler Tufford captured second-place finishes at Corning’s Fast Times Track & Field Invitational Friday.
Garrison broke up an otherwise dominant showing of Corning runners in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:38.07. The Hawks’ Doug Cornfield won the race with a time of 4:33.28 and the third through seventh place runners were all members of the host team.
Tyler Tufford placed second in the 1500 race walk, posting a time of 9:46.4.
The boys 4x100 relay took third in 47.54 seconds.
In girls events, Madelyn Ellison and Kirsten Garrison garnered top-five spots in the 3,000. Ellison was fourth in 13:06.63 and Garrison was fifth in 13:08.73.
Garrison also claimed fifth in the 2,000 steeplechase, clocking 8:37.65.
