ELMIRA — Madison McEvoy registered a double hat trick and Ashleigh Steele contributed a hat trick as Owego rolled past Elmira, 12-4, in Section IV girls lacrosse action Thursday night and improve to 7-7.

The River Hawks never trailed as McEvoy scored just 13 seconds into the first quarter, then added a second goal at 4:09.

Jenna McEvoy got on the scoreboard at 1:19 as the visitors took a 3-1 advantage into the second period.

Steele and Madison McEvoy took turns scoring in Q2, Steele at 10:39 and 1:56, and McEvoy at 7:27 and 42.3 seconds, to build a 7-1 halftime cushion.

Madison McEvoy scored at 9:55 of the third quarter with Amelia Sherman tallying at 9:15 and Alexis Nelson scoring at 5:59 to offset a pair of goals by the Express and give Owego a 10-3 lead heading into the final 12 minutes of action.

In the fourth quarter, Madison McEvoy scored at 9:30 and Steele scored at 8:59 to make it a 12-3 contest.

Madison McEvoy forced eight turnovers, and added two draws and three ground balls. Isabella Herceg contributed six ground balls and four draws; Eleanor Sherman had six ground balls and one forced turnover; and Jenna McEvoy added five ground balls and a forced turnover.

Nelson recorded four ground balls and three forced turnovers; Zoey Schneider chipped in with four ground balls and a forced turnover; Steele had three ground balls and a forced turnover; and Kylie Craven, Amelia Sherman and Mikayla Wilbur added two ground balls and one forced turnover apiece.

Shannon Maslin made five saves in goal and tacked on one ground ball.

Owego visits Seton Catholic Saturday at noon.
