MARATHON — Spencer-Van Etten standout John Garrison has proven he’s one of the best around in distance races, but how will he do if you throw a couple of obstacles in his path?

Apparently, those don’t affect him as he won the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Spring Fling Track & Field Invitational Wednesday.

Garrison posted a time of 10:42.51 to lead the Panthers’ effort.

S-VE runners-up were Karson Kenville in the 110 hurdles (:16.7), Eddie Rixford in the 3200 (11:02.69) and Brian Belanger in the 800 (2:15.68).

Taking third were the 4x100 and 4x400 relays with times of 47.36 seconds and 4:01.29, respectively.

Kirsten Garrison and Madelyn Ellison finished 2-3 in the 2,000 steeplechase. Garrison ran an 8:45.31 and Ellison had a 8:50.21.

Aubrey Catablan took second in the discus (71-2) and Kaylee Kastenhuber was third in the shot put (26-5 ½).

Legends of the Night
John Garrison won the 3200, breaking the 10-minute mark. He registered a time of 9:55.26.

Kenville placed third in the 110 hurdles, clocking 16.71 seconds.

In the girls meet, Kastenhuber was third in the shot put with a heave of 27-4 ½.

IAC divisional meet
John Garrison won the 800 (2:10.7) and the 4x800 relay was first in 9:34.5.

Placing second were Zachary Paucke in the 100 (:12.0) and long jump (16-8), Kenville in the 110 hurdles (:16.8), Rixford in the 1600 (5:00.7), Belanger in the 800 (2:13.5), Donavin VanDerpoel in the shot put (35-0 ½) and the 4x400 relay (3:51.7).

Taking third were Gabe Benjamin in the 800 (2:22.1) and the 1600 (5:22), Paucke in the 200 (:24.3), Kenville in the triple jump (34-6 ¾) and the 4x100 relay (53.0).

Madelyn Ellison won the 1500 (5:53.7), Kirsten Garrison claimed the 3,000 (13:06.2), Brooke Ryan was first in the pole vault (6-6) and the 4x800 won in 13:33.3.

Finishing second were Ashley Ellison in the 400 (1:14.1), Garrison in the 1500 (5:54.7), Madelyn Ellison in the 3,000 (13:22.9), Demi Mouillesseaux in the long jump (13-9 ¼), Catablan in the discus (76-1) and Olivia Swayze in the high jump (4-4).

Thirds went to Kelci Wright in the 200 (:30.1), Kastenhuber in the shot put (28-2), Lilie Stevens in the pole vault (6-0), the 4x100 relay (:56.9) and the 4x400 relay (5:00).
