IAC SOFTBALL: SVEC SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER IN CONVINCING FASHION (2024-05-09)

TRUMANSBURG — The Spencer-Van Etten/Candor softball team swept Trumansburg in convincing fashion, winning 17-2 and 23-0 in 5-inning IAC contests Wednesday.
In both contests the Eagles gave T-burg the business right out of the gate, scoring 15 runs combined in the first innings and never looking back.

With an 8-0 lead in hand, the Eagles added two runs in the second, five in the third and two more in the fourth.
The Blue Raiders’ runs came on a two-run home run from Lenora Reed in the second inning.
Ryleigh Bowman had a home run, single, two runs and five RBI; Faith Brenchley smacked two doubles and scored four runs; and Katelyn Klym scored three runs after reaching base on an error, walk and getting hit by a pitch. She also had one hit.
Raegan Sudnikovich, Phoebe Swartz, Grace Handy and Hannah Smith contributed one single and scored one run apiece. Jill Holmes and Aubrie Kastenhuber scored two runs apiece. Holmes walked three times and drove in one run while Kastenhuber reached on two errors and a walk.
Kastenhuber handled the duties in the circle, striking out six while scattering three hits and a walk.
SVEC was the home team in Game 1.
SVEC 23, T-burg 0
SVEC led 7-0 after an inning, then added five runs in the second, four in the third, five in the fourth and two in the fifth.
Holmes scored five times on four walks and a single; Brenchley had a single, three walks, reached on an error and scored four runs; Klym had three singles, took one for the team and scored three runs; and Nicola Soper added a double, walk, got plunked, and had three runs and an RBI.
Roni Presher recorded two singles, two walks, two ryan and two RBI; Swartz contributed a two-run triple, a single and two runs; Cheylee Campbell added a single, a run and three RBI; Jillian Teribury reached base safely four times; and Bowman tacked on a double.
Presher picked up the win with three strikeouts to her credit.
SVEC ends the regular season with an 11-4 record.
