WAVERLY — Tyler Fedenko and AJ Morais recorded birdies in Wednesday’s IAC boys golf match against Groton, but it wouldn’t be enough in a 198-208 loss at The Club at Shepard Hills.

The Red Hawks posted a pair of birdies as well with medalist Connor Eldred scoring a four on the par-5 ninth hole and Brett Deuel registering a four on the par five eighth hole.

Fedenko’s birdie came on the par-3 seventh and Morais got his on No. 8.

Fedenko shot a 46 to lead the Panthers, Zach Hammond scored a 50, Jayden Stone had a 55 and Morais tacked on a 60.

Talan O’Connor carded a 49 for Groton, Gage Seamans had a 52 and Deuel added a 54.

Non-scoring golfers included S-VE’s John Hastings with a 60 and Andrew Kinnetz at 68, and the Red Hawks’ Brooke Sovocool and Tessa Latray with 62 and 63, respectively.

Groton improved to 5-3 overall while S-VE finishes the regular season 3-6 in the division and 4-8 overall.

Next up for the Panthers is the Section IV class tournament May 20 at the SUNY Delhi Golf Course.
