SECTION IV GIRLS GOLF: SVEC DEFEATS 2 OF 3 FOES IN MULTI-TEAM MATCH (2024-05-08)

CANDOR — The Spencer-Van Etten/Candor girl golf team hosted a four-team match at Catatonk Creek Golf Course Wednesday, defeating Odessa-Montour and Watkins Glen, and losing to Vestal.

The Golden Bears posted a 203 team score, followed by the Eagles with a 224, O-M at 232 and Watkins with a 275.

Lauren Gillette shot a 51 to grab the runner-up spot, trailing only medalist Allison Yoon from Vestal, who led the field with a 46.

The Bears’ Jaelynn Wiggins (51) tied Gillette for second and teammate Molly Schoenfeldt was fourth with a 52. Madison Lilley closed out the team scoring with a 54.

Annika Walle recorded a 53 to place fifth. Lily Kunzman and Gwen Shaw rounded out SVEC’s team scoring, each shooting a 60. Emma Veasey carded a 75.

The Eagles’ Tessa White, Ella Reese, Lily Alison and Ashlynd Goodrich participated as non-scoring players.

Carly Thomas led O-M with a 54 and Emily Melveney paced Watkins Glen with a 56.

SVEC heads to Watkins Glen Monday for a multi-team match.
