STAC BOYS TENNIS: OWEGO SWEEPS CONTESTED MATCHES IN WIN OVER WAVERLY (2024-04-24)

OWEGO — The Owego boys tennis team forfeited two matches to Waverly, but won all four contested clashes to post a 4-2 STAC victory Wednesday.
Roan Duffy defeated Hayden Larsen at second singles, 6-2, 6-1.
Ari Lemmon downed Aromal T. Gith at third singles, 6-0, 6-0.
In the first doubles match, Grant Kersten and Devan Card bested Ava Heath and Savannah Savercool, 6-0, 6-0.
DJ Cardone and Anykan LaPine won the second doubles match against Cagyn Wilson and Carsyn Sinsabaugh, 6-0, 6-1.
The River Hawks’ first singles player, Sam Beyer, missed the match due to injury and the Wolverines' Paxton Grover received a forfeit. Nathan McEvan accepted a forfeit for Waverly at fourth singles
It was the second win of the season for Owego. The River Hawks defeated Windsor, 4-1, on April 9. Duffy and Lemmon won in singles matches, while Card and Theron Robinson, and Cardone and LaPine were victorious in doubles against the Black Knights.
Owego (2-5) visits Johnson City (2-5) Friday at 5 p.m.
