IAC GOLF: S-VE DEFEATS SOUTHERN CAYUGA FOR FIRST WIN (2024-04-18)

AURORA, N.Y. — The Spencer-Van Etten boys golf team earned its first victory of the season Thursday, defeating Southern Cayuga, 202-216, on the Wells College golf course.

Tyler Fedenko picked up his second medalist honor of the season, shooting a 44 on the wet par-36 layout.

Jayden Stone and John Hastings carded 52s and Zach Hammond rounded out the scoring with a 54.

Fedenko recorded a birdie on the par-3 fifth hole and Stone birdied the par-4 No. 6.

The Chiefs (in the process of becoming the Cougars) were led by Landon Haplflesch with a 47. Nick May had a 53, AJ Van De Bogart added a 55 and James Denman tacked on a 61.

Non-scoring golfers were S-VE’s AJ Shoemaker with a 59 and Andrew Kinnetz with a 70, and SC’s Logan Nasholts 65) and Christian Van Orman (65).

The Panthers (1-2) host Odessa-Montour Friday at 3:30 p.m. at The Club at Shepard Hills.
