SECTION IV BOYS LACROSSE: OWEGO FALLS AGAINST MAINE-ENDWELL (April 17, 2024)

OWEGO — Maine-Endwell bolted out to a 7-0 lead after one quarter of play and never looked back, defeating Owego, 18-3, in Section IV boys lacrosse action Wednesday.
Tyler Mathews, a Section IV Division 2 first-team attacker last season, accounted for five goals and six assists. Zach Battaglini scored four goals and Landon Rollo added three goals and two assists.
M-E led 10-1 at halftime and 13-3 heading into the final stanza.
Sawyer Prentiss notched the River Hawks’ initial goal at 7:49 of the second period with Brendan Schofield recording the assist.
Prentiss would score again in the third at 6:15 with Noah Heath earning an assist.
Schofield would find the back of the goal at 4:44 of the third with Heath again picking up the assist.
Kaden Krohmalney had six ground balls and Schofield scooped up another five. Noah Heath and Kaiden Jones contributed three ground balls each, Shay Pidcoe added two, and Atlas Boland, Caleb Cole, Antoni Talarico, Evan Ward and Sam Nowetner tacked on one apiece.
Aiden Rhodes and Mykal Henning made five and four saves, respectively.
Owego (3-5) hosts Vestal Friday at 6 p.m.
