SECTION IV GIRLS GOLF: SVEC COMPETES IN 5-TEAM MATCH (2024-04-11)

ITHACA — The Spencer-Van Etten/Candor girls golf team competed in a five-team match at Hillendale Golf Club Thursday.

The Eagles posted a 225 team score, defeating host Odessa-Montour, which shot a 249. Lansing won the match with a 199, defeating Marathon by five strokes. Corning was third with a 219.

SVEC’s Lauren Gillette tied Marathon’s Abby Ensign for fifth in a field of 25 competitors, carding a 51 on the par-36 back nine. Teammate Lily Kunzman finished tied for 10th with Lansing’s Mckenna Syer at 55.

The Eagles’ Annika Walle shot 58 and Gwen Shaw added a 61.

Lansing’s Hailey Baughan and Corning’s Delaney Abel record the low scores of the day, each shooting a 42.

Marathon’s Savanna Warfield was third with a 49, followed by Lansing’s Miley Palmer with a 50. Lansing’s Alessandra Monacelli, and the Marathon duo of Kendre Euson and Gabby Smith came in seventh with 52s.

SVEC (1-4) is off until next Thursday when it visits Willowcreek Golf Course to play Horseheads.
