Tioga County Sports Report
SOUTHPORT — The Spencer-Van Etten/Candor softball team scored early and often en route to 14-1 five-inning IAC victory over Elmira Notre Dame Tuesday.

The Eagles scored three runs in the top of the first inning, added four more in the second and held a 9-0 advantage before the Crusaders could plate a run.

Raegan Sudnikovich opened the game with a double and scored on a Phoebe Swartz sacrifice fly. Katelyn Klym singled and scored what would prove to be the game-winning run on a Nicola Soper base hit. Soper tallied on a Roni Presher double.

With two outs in the book, SVEC pushed its cushion to 7-0. Sudnikovich belted a triple and scored on a Swartz single, and Swartz scored on a Klym double. Klym and Jill Holmes, who drew a base on balls, would also score, making it 7-0.

Hannah Smith led off the third with a double and Aubrie Kastenhuber pushed her across with a double, and Kastenhuber scored for a 9-0 lead.

ND took advantage of a base on balls to Libby Meisner, who led off the home half of the third with the free pass and scored on a Kayleigh Ayres base hit.

Presher would retire the final six batters on four infield outs, a strikeout and a fly out.

Klym would belt a leadoff home run in the fourth to make it 10-1, then the Eagles would chalk up four more runs in the fifth.

Sudnikovich took advantage of a walk and stolen base to score, Swartz reached on an error and drove in a run, then Klym and Holmes singled and plated a run apiece and Presher closed out the scoring with an RBI.

SVEC pounded out 18 hits with Klym going 4-for-4 with four runs and three RBI; Presher going 3-for-4 with two RBI; and Sudnikovich going 2-for-2 with three runs.

Swartz went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI; Smith was 2-for-3 with a run; Holmes was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI; Soper was 2-for-4 with a run and RBI; Kastenhuber went 1-for-3 with a run and RBI; and No. 23 (no name listed) added a hit.
