IAC SOFTBALL: SVEC ROLLS PAST DRYDEN, 18-5 (2024-04-01)
Tioga County Sports Report
SPENCER — Every Spencer-Van Etten/Candor player scored, including four who tallied three runs apiece as the Eagles rolled to an 18-5, five-inning victory over Dryden in IAC softball action Monday.
SVEC also received a solid effort in the circle from Roni Presher, who scattered four hits and struck out four in the win.
Raegan Sudnikovich started things off by reaching third on a fly ball error to center field and scoring on a Phoebe Swartz groundout. Then, with two away, Ryleigh Bowman, Roni Presher and Aubrie Kastenhuber scored to make it 4-0 and Nicola Soper added an RBI single.
The second inning saw SVEC bat around the order and then some as it stretched its advantage to 13-0. Sudnikovich scored twice while Swartz, Katelyn Klym, Bowman, Pressure, Kastenhuber, Cheylee Campbell and Hannah Smith found their way home as well.
The Eagles struggled a bit in the third inning as Dryden surged for five runs. The Purple Lions took advantage of three errors and three hits, including a three-run home run by Chloe Russell.
That would be it, however, as Presher would allow just one hit over the final two innings.
Soper delivered a three-run homer in the third, plating Presher and Kastenhuber. Klym and Bowman scored in the fourth with Kastenhuber adding an RBI walk.
She joined Sudnikovich, Bowman and Kastenhuber to score three runs each. Klym added two, and Swartz, Soper, Campbell and Smith added one apiece.
SVEC travels to Lansing Wednesday.
