IAC BASEBALL: AMAN'S 15 Ks GUIDE SVEC TO VICTORY OVER DRYDEN (2024-04-01)

Tioga County Sports Report
VAN ETTEN — The Spencer-Van Etten/Candor baseball team racked up early runs and rode strong pitching from Deveon Aman to a 10-2 IAC victory over Dryden Monday.

“It was nice to get a win,” said SVEC coach Cliff Pierce. “I think the kids played well. We only had a couple of errors and we put the ball in play really well together.”

SVEC took advantage of nine hits and seven walks to support strong pitching from Aman, who struck out 15 batters while scattering four hits and a pair of walks.

“He was very efficient,” Pierce said. “He threw exactly 101 pitches on the day.”

Jacek Teribury scored as a trio of Eagles drew walks in the bottom of the first inning, then SVEC added four more in the second. Jason Jantz singled, Wyatt Ross and Owen Huizinga walked, and Logan Aman reached base and each scored.

SVEC would push its lead to 7-0 in the third after a Cameron Sinn double, and three stolen bases from Jantz, who was hit by a pitch.

The Purple Lions plated a pair of runs in the top of the fourth on two singles, two errors, a wild pitch and a passed ball.

The Eagles would tack on a trio of insurance runs in the sixth on a Zach Lang triple, base hits by Logan Aman and Sinn, a double by Deveon Aman and a Jantz walk. Lang, Logan Aman and Sinn scored the runs.

Logan Aman went 2-for-3 with two runs while Sinn and Deveon Aman both went 2-for-4 with a double, with Sinn scoring twice. Jantz was 1-for-2 with two runs and Ross was 1-for-2 with a run. Lang went 1-for-3 with a triple. Teribury and Huizinga tacked on one run apiece.

SVEC heads to Lansing Wednesday.
