HS TRACK & FIELD: S-VE GRABS HANDFUL OF TOP-5 FINISHES AT ROTARY RELAYS (2024-03-30)

BINGHAMTON — The Spencer-Van Etten boys and girls track & field teams earned a handful of top-5 finishes at the Rotary Relays held at Chenango Forks High School Thursday.

The Panthers’ top performance was turned in by the boys distance medley relay, which finished as the runner-up with a time of 12:01.76. That quartet included John Garrison, Landon Lawrence, Brian Belanger and Edward Rixford.

Karson Kenville added an individual fourth in the boys 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.41 seconds. Matching his placement were Demi Mouillesseaux in the girls triple jump with a leap of 30-1 ¼ and Kayle Kastenhuber in the girls shot put with a heave of 25-6 1/2

For the girls, the 4x1600 relay and the 4x100 throwers relay placed fourth. Grace Bishop, Kirsten Garrison, and Ashley and Madelyn Ellison clocked 30:03.58 in the 1600 while throwers Kastenhuber, Andralyn Wallace, Aubrey Catablan and Lucy Secondo recorded a 1:04.66.

Kastenhuber and Wallace finished sixth in the shot put relay with a distance of 44-10 ¾ while Mouillesseaux and Kelci Wright were sixth in the triple jump relay at 52-7.

Dylan Rosa-Collazo, Lincoln Jones, Kenville and Zach Paucke took seventh in the boys 4x200 relay in 1:46.77.

Katelynn Kayne, Jackie Brown, Ashley Ellison and Mouillesseaux were eighth in the girls 4x400 with a 5:17.19, Rixford, Belanger, Paucke and John Garrison were eighth in the boys sprint relay with a time of 4:11.13.

The boys 4x1600 relay of Alden Salvato, Belanger, Rixford and John Garrison came in ninth in the 4x1600 relay in 23:01.17.

Arthur Secondo was ninth in the discus with a toss of 83 feet and Kenville took 10th in the long jump at 17-5 ½.

Ashley Ellison and Harley Bly were 10th in the girls long jump relay at 18-10 ¾ while belanger and Lincoln Jones were 10th in the triple jump relay with a 60-8 ¾, and Donavin VanDerpoel and Gabriel Roy took 10th in the shot put relay at 56-11 ¼.

The girls distance medley of MouillesseauxKirsten Garrison, Kendall Gentile and Madelyn Ellison was 10th in 18:48.8, and the boys 4x100 relay was 10th in 56.46 seconds (names unavailable).

The Panthers were 13th of 15 teams in the girls meet and 14th of 14 in the boys event.

S-VE will return home for a meet with Candor and Marathon at 5 p.m. Tuesday. It will be a home meet for the Coyotes.
