IAC SOFTBALL: SVEC LOADED FOR 2024 CAMPAIGN (2024-03-24)

Tioga County Sports Report
CANDOR / SPENCER — If Spencer-Van Etten / Candor softball fans aren’t smiling like the cat who swallowed the canary they should be. The Eagles are loaded for the 2024 season.

“We are returning all of our starters from last year, and adding some new strength to our roster,” coach Megan Friscia said. “We are looking forward to being competitive within our division.”

SVEC’s 9-10 overall record didn’t truly display the talent they put on the diamond, but the group which was 8-9 in the IAC and 2-5 in the IAC Large School South returns its entire roster.

Leading the way is senior catcher Raegan Sudnikovich, who provides the competitive spirit the rest if the roster follows.

The Eagles bring back several seniors to include pitcher Roni Presher, infielders Aubrie Kastenhuber and Grace Handy, and outfielders Adriena Farmer and Cheylee Campbell.

SVEC has a solid group of juniors returning in infielders Faith Brenchley and Katelyn Klym, and outfielders Hannah Smith and Summer Taylor. Also back is sophomore infielder Jillian Holmes.

Newcomers whom Friscia expects to make an impact include juniors Phoebe Swartz and Ryleigh Bowman, and sophomore Nicola Soper. All three will be utility players.

Friscia said her charges will continue to work hard and expect to achieve their goals.

SVEC hosts Dryden April 1 to open the season.
