IAC TENNIS: VETERANS, NEWCOMERS MAKE UP NEWARK VALLEY TEAM (2024-03-24)

NEWARK VALLEY — Newark Valley brings a mix of veteran players and newcomers to the tennis court this season.

The Cardinals return Nathan Engbith, Hailey Engbith, Eric Hunt, Michael Medina, Rachel Parisot and Michael Wandell.

Hunt and Nathan Engbith placed second in Novice Doubles at the 2023 IAC Tennis Championships.

Medina teamed with Clara McCloskey to go 2-1 at the Section IV Class C-D West tournament.

Notable graduation losses are McCloskey, Ginny Mertson and Austin Smith. Smith was a runner-up in the IAC and went 1-1 at sectionals.

Newcomers to the NV team are Mat Bauer, Madison Davis, McKenzie Larkin, Danny Pirger, Katie Rombach and Emma Smith.

The Cardinals will again host the IAC and Section IV tournaments.

NV opens the season at Moravia Tuesday, then hosts Watkins Glen Wednesday.
