ALL-TIOGA COUNTY GIRLS BOWLING: CANDOR’S FLOYD HEADLINES LIST OF TOP KEGLERS (2024-03-20)

Tioga County Sports Report
TIOGA COUNTY — Candor junior Kaitlyn Floyd put together a solid season on the lanes, then stepped up her game in end-of-season tournament action to earn a trip to the state championships and the title of All-Tioga County Girls “Bowler of the Year.”

Floyd, an IAC first-team all-star who carried the third highest average in the conference (175.2), placed second in Section IV Class C (4th in all classifications) and third at the Section IV State Qualifier. She earned a trip to the Composite state championships, where she finished in the top half of the field with a 184.83 average.

The “Newcomer of the Year” is Waverly’s Ariel Houseknecht. The 7th-grader rolled a season-high 548 series with a high game of 211 as the Wolverines finished fourth at the STAC championships. She added a 483 series in the Section IV Class C tournament where Waverly also took fourth.

Candor’s Janelle Marsh and Mike Kirk share the “Coach of the Year” honor with Waverly’s Derek Bowman.

The Coyotes went 29-11, winning eight of 10 matches, to claim the IAC Large School title and placed fifth in the Section IV Class C tournament. Candor had to compete in the IAC Large School division due to its merger with Spencer-Van Etten even though S-VE did not have any bowlers on the team.

The Wolverines won the STAC Central in their first season in the conference, taking seven of 10 matches and posting a 33-17 record. Waverly placed fourth in the STAC and Section IV Class C tournaments.
