TIOGA COUNTY GIRLS SOCCER ALL-STARS: WAVERLY'S PICCO LEADS ELITE GROUP (2018-12-28)

Tioga County Sports Report
TIOGA COUNTY - Waverly won the IAC Large School Championship, finished as the Section IV Class B runner-up to eventual state champion Chenango Forks and posted a 15-3 overall record this fall. Those impressive achievements would not have been possible without the help of the 2018 Tioga County Sports Report Female Soccer Player of the Year, Gabby Picco.

A fast and physical sophomore midfielder, she wreaked havoc on opposing defenses throughout the season. Picco would finish the 2018 campaign with a team-high 21 goals. She also dished out seven assists.

Newcomer of the Year
Owego may not have had the season Waverly did, but the Indians were competitive in several games. A big part of that was freshman midfielder Carmen Jorgensen, who had a knack for finding gaps in opposing defenses.

Jorgensen, who scored 12 goals and doled out three assists, gives followers of the Indians reason to smile for the next few years.
