TIOGA COUNTY — The Newark Valley and Owego boys basketball teams open the Section IV playoffs with the Cardinals on the road and the River Hawks playing at home.

13. Newark Valley (8-12) at 4. Trumansburg (15-5), 6 p.m.: The Cardinals have a big challenge in front of them in the Class B opening round as the Blue Raiders won both regular-season contests, 70-47 and 65-47.

5. Norwich (9-9) at 4. Owego (13-5), 6 p.m.: The lone Class A quarterfinal pits two teams which battled into overtime during the regular season with the River Hawks prevailing, 75-70.
