TIOGA COUNTY — The Candor boys basketball team has drawn the No. 1 seed for the Class C playoffs.

The Coyotes (17-2) are ranked sixth in the state and will host the winner of Newfield (8-9) and Richfield Springs/ODY (12-7), the eighth and ninth seeds, respectively. The semifinals are Feb. 28 and the championship game is March 2. Both games are slated to be played at TC3.

Owego (13-5) hosts fifth-seeded Norwich (9-9) Wednesday at 6 p.m. and the winner will visit top-seeded Johnson City (16-2), which is ranked 10th in the state at 6 p.m. on Feb. 24. The championship game will be held at Visions Veterans Memorial Arena March 3 at a time to be announced.

Newark Valley (8-11) is seeded 13th in Class B and will head to fourth-seeded Trumansburg (15-4) on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The Blue Raiders are ranked 12th in the state. The winner plays Dryden or Whitney Point on Feb. 24.

Waverly has drawn a top seed in Class B. At 15-3 and ranked No. 10 in the state, the Wolverines will host the winner of No. 8 Chenango Forks (8-12) and No. 9 Sidney (11-7).

Also in Class B, Tioga (12-7) is seeded 10th and visits No. 7 Susquehanna Valley (10-10) in the first round Wednesday with the winner heading to No. 2 Lansing (18-2) on Feb. 24.

The semis will be held Feb. 28 at the higher seeds and the championship game will be played March 3 at the Arena at a time to be announced.
