ON TAP TODAY: NEWARK VALLEY GOES FOR FOURTH STRAIGHT IAC CHAMPIONSHIP (2024-02-15)

TIOGA COUNTY — The only event on tap today involving a local team is the IAC Large School Girls Basketball Championship where Newark Valley attempts to win its fourth consecutive title.

The Cardinals (18-1), recently ranked No. 1 in the state in Class B, face Whitney Point (8-11) again, having defeated the Golden Eagles in the three previous title games. NV won 72-16 in 2020 then, following a break in 2021 due to COVID-19, scored a 67-12 victory in 2022. The 2023 meeting was much closer, but Newark Valley still dominated, 55-34.

In two meetings this season, NV won 55-24 in January and 50-24 a month later.

Game time is 6 p.m. at TC3 in Dryden.
