IAC JV GIRLS BASKETBALL: NEWARK VALLEY RESULTS (2023-02-14)

NEWARK VALLEY — Following are some results from the Newark Valley JV girls basketball season.

NV 33, S-VE 16
(Feb. 9)
The majority of the scoring was conducted in the first half as the Cardinals led 10-4 after one period and 26-13 at the break.

The second half saw a 3-pointer from Bri Noble and a pair of baskets, and one bucket and one free throw by the Panthers.

Noble set the pace with 11 points and Malloy Chapman scored another 10 for NV. Haven Aylesworth had six, Cecilia Whitney posted four and Leah Lansing added two.

S-VE was led by Madelyn Ellison with six and Kaylee Kastenhuber with five. Lauren Gillette and Kaidince Root had two points each, and Trinity Dashler added one.

NV 33, NOTRE DAME 14
(Feb. 2)
NV only led by five at halftime, but held the Crusaders to just five points in the second half.

Aylesworth scored a dozen points, Noble had nine, Sarah Lamb added eight, and Chapman and Gabrielle James accounted for two points each.

NV 41, LANSING 16
(Jan. 30)
Aylesworth finished the game with a triple-double which included 17 points, 18 rebounds and 11 steals. She also had two assists and one blocked shot.

The Cardinals went on a 17-0 tear in the first quarter with Aylesworth scoring 10 points, Lamb adding four and James nailing a 3-pointer.

Lamb and James chipped in with six points apiece with Lamb grabbing five rebounds and blocking two shots, and James snagging a pair of steals. Chapman had four points, and Noble added four points, six boards and three assists. Abigail Escalante pitched in with two points, five boards and two steals; and Lansing tacked on two points, four rebounds and three steals.

NV 30, WATKINS GLEN 16
(Jan. 26)
NV shut the Lake Hawks out in the first quarter.

Aylesworth scored 14 points to lead the Cardinals. Chapman added six, Noble had four, and James and Lamb tacked on three apiece.

NV 42, EDISON 17
(Jan. 19)
The Cardinals fed Aylesworth for 13 of her game-high 24 points in the first quarter to grab a 13-6 lead.

They led 19-9 at the half and ended the game with a 15-4 fourth-quarter barrage.

Aylesworth also pulled down a dozen rebounds to complete a double-double, and had one block and one steal.

Noble pumped out another dozen points to go with five rebounds and four steals; James had four points, four assists and two steals; Lamb added two points, four rebounds, two blocks and two steals; Chapman had six rebounds, two assists and two steals; and Whitney added a block and two boards.

NV 38, DRYDEN 27
(Jan. 11)
Newark Valley got the early jump, leading 10-3 after one period of action and 24-8 at halftime.

Noble led a trio of double-digit scorers with 13 points while Aylesworth and James tacked on 10 markers apiece. Lansing and Whitney added two points each, and Escalante made a free throw.
