STAC MODIFIED BOYS BASKETBALL: OWEGO (BLUE) CLOSES SEASON WITH TWO HOME VICTORIES (2024-02-13)

TIOGA COUNTY — The Owego (Blue) boys modified basketball team closed out the season with a pair of victories on their home court, defeating Chenango Forks (White), 43-18, and Johnson City (White), 47-30.
The River Hawks finish the season with a 10-4 record.
“I am so proud of their effort, willingness to listen and learn, and their team chemistry all season,” said coach Tom Bronk. “Fun group to coach!”

The River Hawks held Forks to single digits in every quarter while racking up a baker’s dozen in each of the first and third periods.
Owego led 13-6 after the first eight minutes and 21-11 at the half, then took a 34-16 cushion into the final frame.
Nolan Card led Owego with 19 points while Evan Canfield scored another nine.
The remainder of the scoring was balanced among five players. Lucas Mott and Wyatt Prentiss put up four apiece, Camden Thole had three, and Joram Belokur and Anthony Neumuth added two each.

Owego held the Wildcat offense in check for much of the contest.
Card scored nine of the River Hawks’ 11 first-quarter points to set the stage. He pumped out another 10 in the third period as Owego built a 20-point cushion, 39-19.
Card enjoyed a 25-point performance while Mott tacked on 10 markers. Canfield and Prentiss added eight and four points, respectively.
Joe Tiesi led JC with 13 points.
