SECTION IV GIRLS WRESTLING: OWEGO’S CRAFT, SVEC’S BEACH EARN TOP SEEDS FOR CHAMPIONSHIPS (2024-02-08)

BINGHAMTON — Owego’s RaeAnn Craft and Spencer-Van Etten/Candor’s Tayah Beach have earned No. 1 seeds for the Section IV Girls Wrestling Championships being held at Visions Veterans Memorial Arena Saturday.

If Craft wins at 124 pounds she will become the first three-time girls champion in Section IV history.

Tioga’s Kali Bailey is the second seed at 120 and Waverly’s Onnah Thompson is seeded fifth.

Beach placed third in 2022 and was the runner-up last season. This season, she wears the bullseye in the 126-pound class.

Amelia Toomey from Tioga is seeded second while Waverly has Brenae Tedesco and Sydney Rosenbloom seeded fourth and eighth, respectively.

SVEC’s Dallas Fanning is seeded No. 2 at 107 behind Sidney standout Isabella Phelps. Courtney Castellana of Corning is the third seed.

The Eagles’ Katelyn VanEtten is seeded seventh at 235. Waverly’s Mackenzie Laforest is the two seed.

The only other top seed from Tioga County is Tioga’s Kyah Nelson at 165.
