THE WEEK AHEAD: RELATIVELY LIGHT SCHEDULE, BUT BIG-TIME EVENTS (2024-02-05)

Tioga County Sports Report
TIOGA COUNTY — It’s a relatively light week with only 20 events on tap, but three are championship events and a few others are of major significance.

Following is a list of this week’s activities.

MONDAY
Bowling: Owego competes in the STAC championships at Midway Lanes in Vestal.

Boys Swimming & Diving: Owego hosts Greene in its final home meet of the season.

TUESDAY
Bowling: Newark Valley hosts Groton.

Boys Basketball: Candor visits Groton, Newark Valley heads to Whitney Point and S-VE hosts Tioga.

Girls Basketball: S-VE must win out to make the playoffs and it starts with a trip to Tioga. There is no JV game. Newark Valley heads to Whitney Point and Owego hosts Waverly.

WEDNESDAY
Boys Basketball: Owego visits Waverly for a contest crucial to each team’s STAC Central title hopes.

Girls Basketball: Candor can clinch the IAC South Small School division with a win against Groton at home.

THURSDAY
Girls Basketball: Owego visits Seton Catholic while S-VE hosts state-ranked Greene in a must-win game.

FRIDAY
Boys Basketball: Owego hosts Seton Catholic in a battle which could decide the division champ. Candor heads south of the border to play Towanda and Newark Valley heads to Trumansburg.

Girls Basketball: Newark Valley hosts Trumansburg.

SATURDAY
Cheerleading: Newark Valley hosts the IAC championships.

Wrestling: All five Tioga County teams head to Visions Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton for the Section IV Division II championships.
