SECTION IV INDOOR TRACK & FIELD: CHRYSLER CLAIMS BRONZE AT SECTIONALS (2024-02-04)

CORTLAND — Jaelyn Chrysler ran to a third-place finish in the 3000-meter run to lead the Owego indoor track & field team at the Section IV Class A/B championships at SUNY Cortland Saturday night.

Chrysler came in as the third seed behind a pair of larger school competitors, posting a time of 11:00.61. She would also run a season-best 1:55.68 to claim seventh in the 600.

The River Hawks’ Abigail McHugh finished sixth in the 3000, clocking 12:21.73. She was 17th in the 600 in 2:15.17.

Lilly LaFever contributed a ninth in the 1500 in a season-best 5:42.71. She was also 17th in the 300 with a time of 58.4 seconds.

Izabella Kocsis competed in three events. She leapt 13-5 ¼ to take 10th in the long jump, was 16th in the 300 in 58.03 seconds and recorded a season-best 8.83 seconds in the 55 dash where she took 18th.

In the boys meet, Jaxson Belokur ran a season-best 3:02.32 to finish eighth in the 1000 while Jaeden King was ninth in the 300 in 40.39 seconds.

Jack Aryo collected a pair of season bets, placing 15th in the 600 in 1:55.62 and 20th in the 55 preliminaries.

Bryson Castro had a season best also, claiming 19th in the 55 prelims in 7.86 seconds.

Owego will return to SUNY Cortland Feb. 17 for its final meet of the season, the Section IV Classic.
