IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: CANDOR DOWNS NEWARK VALLEY IN INTRA-COUNTY CONTEST (2024-01-17)

CANDOR — The Candor boys basketball team pumped out 42 first-half points to defeat Newark Valley, 64-37, in an intra-county contest Wednesday evening.
Jadon Heidl led the early charge with seven points as the Coyotes went in front, 19-8, after one period of play.
Jacek Teribury scored six second-quarter points, Heidl added five, and Carson Heidl and Donald Makie tacked on four apiece to push the Candor lead to 42-19 at halftime.
Jadon Heidl sank a pair of 3-pointers in the third quarter, giving him four treys on the night. He led all scorers with 20 points.
Donald Makie sank one three-ball and recorded 11 points, Teribury contributed 10 points, Carson Heidl had nine and Tra Payne scored eight with Payne knocking down a pair of threes. Jakobe Foster added six points.
NV received 11 points from Cooper Davis, who hit for three threes. Dan Truesdail added eight points, Danny Pirger and Tim Wojtysiak had six apiece, Nate Hinckley pitched in with three, Dylan Iverson had two and Ashton Slavik added one.
The Cardinals host Windsor in a non-league game Thursday while Candor visits Tioga Friday in a crucial IAC South Small School battle.
