STAC BOYS SWIMMING & DIVING: OWEGO’S ALLEN PICKS UP TWO WINS IN LOSS TO FORKS (2023-12-05)

OWEGO — Magavin Allen recorded one individual win and one relay victory in Owego’s 101-57 STAC boys swimming & diving loss to Chenango Forks Tuesday evening.

The sophomore pulled away from the field following the first leg of the 200-yard individual medley, posting a time of 2:21.3, more than 18 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor.

A veteran member on the River Hawks’ roster, Allen swam the opening leg of the triumphant 400 freestyle relay, which recorded a time of 4:31.21. Joining him on the relay were John Castro, Christian Monell and Jaxson Calice.

Owego also received an individual win in the 100 breaststroke where Javan Belokur registered a time of 1:24.87.

The River Hawks’ second-place efforts came from Eric Schrader in the 100 butterfly (1:18.83) and 100 breaststroke (1:30.91), Calice in the 50 free (:24.56), Belokur in the 500 free (6:33.2), and the 200 medley relay of Allen, Belokur, Schrader and Calice (2:07.44).

Placing third for Owego were Schrader in the 200 free (2:23.72), Monell in the 50 free (:30.01), Vincent Kneller in the 100 fly (1:29.9), Calice in the 100 free (:56.62) and the 200 free relay of Joe Gaurnier, Castro, Connor Riegel and Monell (2:08.06).

With 12 upperclassmen on the 17 swimmer roster, the Blue Devils posted their second 100-point plus outing in as many meets (Forks defeated Waverly in the season opener, 105-49).

Owego hosts Oneonta Dec. 12 at 5:30 p.m.
