STAC BOYS SWIMMING & DIVING: OWEGO DROPS SEASON OPENER TO WINDSOR (2023-12-05)

OWEGO — The Owego boys swimming & diving team picked up wins in six of the 11 events it entered, but came up short in the season opener against Windsor last week, 95-72.

Magavin Allen, Jaxson Calice and Eric Schrader collected three victories each while Javan Belokur, Vincent Kneller and Connor Riegel added one each.

Allen, Kneller, Calice and Schrader teamed up to win the meet’s final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay, posting a time of 4:19.1.

In individual events, Allen won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:05.89; Belokur captured the 200 free in 2:29.32; Calice touched the wall first in the 50 free in 24.86 seconds, Riegel took the 100 breaststroke with a 1:33.57; and Schrader got the 500 free, clocking 6:33.42.

Allen, Calice, Kneller and Schrader were the runners-up in the 200 medley relay (2:05.5). Also placing second were Allen in the 100 free (:57.68), Christian Monell in the 100 breast (1:55.61) and Schrader in the 200 individual medley (2:43.23).

Kneller added a third in the 100 butterfly (1:28.46), and the quartet of John Castro, Dominic and Stefano Scherrer, and Monell were third in the 200 free relay (2:23.27).

Also scoring points for the River Hawks were Calice in the 100 free (4th, 1:02.21), Kneller in the 100 back (4th, 1:25.71), Riegel with a pair of fifths in the 100 free (1:16.59) and 200 free (2:59.32), and Castro in the 50 free (:34.1).

Owego hosts Chenango Forks (1-0) today at 5 p.m.
