ALL-TIOGA COUNTY BOYS SOCCER: TIOGA’S ROE HEADLINES STAR-STUDDED CAST (2023-11-30)

Tioga County Sports Report
TIOGA COUNTY — The resurgent Tioga boys soccer program won a division championship in its third season back in action and the Tigers can credit much of that success to the 2023 All-Tioga County Boys Soccer “Player of the Year.”

Senior forward Tyler Roe scored a program record 30 goals to lead his team to the IAC South Small School title. He also set a program mark for career goals with 65. The team captain’s leadership was also a key to the team’s successful season.

Exchange student Steven Novak is the “Newcomer of the Year.” The Spencer-Van Etten/Candor senior led the team in goals (19) and assists (11). He also recorded a hat trick to lead the South to victory in the IAC senior all-star game.

The “Coach of the Year” is former Tioga standout Adam Layman. He took over the program when it started back up in 2021 and guided the Tigers to a 6-1-1 division record and a 7-7-2 overall record, not bad considering Tioga won once in 2021 and three times in 2022.
