TIOGA COUNTY — The Newark Valley and Owego boys bowling teams open defense of their conference championships, beginning the 2023-24 season on the road.

Newark Valley at Union Springs/Port Byron, 4 p.m.: The Cardinals won the IAC tournament last year. NV (49-11) was the Division 1 runner-up to Waverly (55-5) during the regular season. US/PB was fourth in the division at 22-38.

The US/PB girls finished first in the division during the regular season with a 49-11 record while NV was fourth at 18-42.

Owego at Chenango Forks, 3:40 p.m.: The River Hawks went 50-0 in STAC Division 3 matches last season and placed second behind powerhouse Corning at the conference tournament. Forks was second in the division at 13-37.  Owego graduated one bowler, Cole Dalton, who has taken his talents on to college. 

The River Hawk ladies were second in Division 3 at 23-27 while Forks was third (3-47). Owego set a school record with a 2131 series at the conference tournament.
