CICERO, N.Y. — A pair of SVEC grapplers captured weight class titles in Girls division competition at the Friends of Section IV JV/Girls Wrestling Tournament Saturday.

Dallas Fanning and Tayah Beach both posted 3-0 records on the day to stand atop the podium at 114 and 126 pounds, respectively.

Beach, the Section IV runner-up to nationally-ranked No. 1 Emily Sindoni of Tioga last season and a sectional bronze medalist in 2022, pinned Schuyler’s Jackie Mace in 2:22 in the finals.

The sophomore decked Oneonta’s Aislynn Lennord in 48 seconds in the quarterfinals, then dispatched Windsor’s Kimberly Olaeta in 1:02 in the semifinals.

Fanning won all three of her round robin bouts by first period fall in the 114B category.

The freshman opened with a fall over Onnah Thompson of Waverly in 1:31. In the semis, she pinned Colleen Hilderbrant of Whitney Point in 1:55. It took her just 22 seconds to score a fall over Horseheads’ Lily Gullo in the championship tilt.

SVEC’s Kaden Sims brought home the silver, falling to Susquehanna Valley’s Trent Rose by fall in 5:44 in the Boys 190 finals.

Sims decked Marathon’s Johnathon Irwin in 2:39 in the quarters and Elmira’s Evan Wilcox in 5:23 in the semis.

The Eagles’ Xavier Beach pinned Schuyler’s Jayden Summers in 53 seconds in the Boys 124 third-place match.

He pinned Susquehanna Valley’s Codi Rosenkrans in 4:46 in his opener, but lost by fall to Jason O’Connor of Chenango Forks in 1:16 in the semis.

SVEC’s Katelynn VanEtten placed seventh at Girls 235

In other Boys division competition, the Eagles’ Nicholas Rennells finished seventh at 215 and Dominic Classen was sixth in 215C.
