STAC GIRLS SWIMMING & DIVING: OWEGO’S KATCHUK, SCHRADER, RELAY WIN AGAINST CV (2023-09-28)

TIOGA COUNTY — The Owego girls swimming & diving team picked up three wins in a 102-67 STAC loss to Chenango Valley Tuesday.

Kaelyn Katchuk continued her dominance on the 1-meter springboard while Olivia Schrader picked up a victory in the 100-yard backstroke. Also winning was the 400 freestyle relay quartet of Elizabeth Williams, Sydney Shoen, Natalia Nowetner and Isabelle Taylor.

Katchuk scored 268.85 points in the diving competition while teammate Ayla Young was second with 214.8.

Schrader posted a time of 1:13.28 and the relay clocked 5:43.02.

The River Hawks’ other runners-up included Ava Murphy in the 200 individual medley (2:35.7) and 100 butterfly (1:06.02), Sophia Lee in the 50 free (:26.37) and 100 free (:58.8), the 200 medley relay of Lee, Schrader, Murphy and Cecilia Clair (2:07.97), and the 200 free relay of Schrader, Murphy, Clair and Lee (1:56.29).

Placing third were Williams in the 200 free (2:45.69), Schrader in the 200 IM (2:38.63), Clair in the 500 free (7:09.78) and Nowetner in the 100 breaststroke (1:41.27).

Clair was fourth in the 50 free (:31.08), Williams took fourth in the 500 free (7:36.29), Taylor finished fifth in 200 free (3:10.53) and 100 breast (1:46.69), and Nowetner was fifth in the 100 free (1:22.2).

Owego heads to Windsor today.
