IAC GIRLS SOCCER: SVEC WINS THIRD GAME IN 5 DAYS (2023-09-28)

CANDOR — Allie Lyon scored four first-half goals as the SVEC girls soccer team won its third game during a five-day span Wednesday, 6-1, over Newfield.
After the Eagles gave up a goal to the Trojans’ Sierra Lynch just 5:01 into the contest, the 8th-grader tied the score on a feed from Meradyth Stouffer just 49 seconds later.
Lyon and Stouffer hooked up again at 30:24 to put the Eagles up for good.
Ninety seconds later, Lyon had a hat trick to her credit, scoring on a feed from Callie Demming.
Her fourth goal, at 32:19, made it 4-1 at intermission.
Hannah Magyar came out of the goal in the second half to team up with Kaitlyn Coppage for a pair of scores.
Coppage found the back of the net at 14:27 with Magyar assisting, then Magyar tallied at 32:31 with Coppage earning the assist.
SVEC outshot Newfield, 19-10, while the Trojans held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
The Newfield keeper made five saves and the SVEC keepers had nine.
SVEC (3-7) hosts Trumansburg today as part of a Senior Night doubleheader. The girls play at 5 p.m. and the boys at 7 p.m.
