HIGH SCHOOL BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: GARRISON CRUISES TO OWEGO INVITE VICTORY (2023-09-24)

OWEGO — S-VE standout John Garrison cruised to victory in the varsity boys race at the Owego Cross Country Invitational Saturday.
The senior posted a time of 15:51, finishing 29 seconds ahead of Athens freshman Graham Wanck in a field of 150 competitors who completed the course.
After placing 15th in the modified race as a 7th-grader, Garrison claimed modified runner-up honors in 8th grade. He was also the runner-up in the varsity small school race in 2021 and 11th in varsity small school last year. There was no meet in 2020 due to COVID-19.
Sully O’Donnell was the top runner for the host River Hawks, placing sixth in 17:16.8. Teammate Magavin Allen finished 11th, right in the middle of a three-man pack vying for the No. 10 spot. The trio clocked 17:32.3.
Newark Valley’s top runner was Marcos Escalante, 55th in 18:54.2.
Issac Tuttle led Candor, taking 78th with a time of 19:51.8.
Horseheads scored 83 points to nip Vestal (87) for the team title. Susquehanna was third with 107 and Owego took fourth with 111.
S-VE was seventh with 205, Newark Valley came in 14th with 359 and Candor had an incomplete team.
