IAC BOYS SOCCER: SVEC PICKS UP ANOTHER SHUTOUT, IMPROVES TO 6-2 (2023-09-21)

Tioga County Sports Report
CANDOR — The SVEC boys soccer team recorded its second shutout in as many days, defeating Newfield, 3-0, in IAC action Thursday.

Noah Banks scored the only goal needed in the eighth minute of play and was assisted by Steven Novak.

Banks tallied again in the 22nd minute, this time unassisted.

Tyler Greeno got in on the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 28th minute.

“It was evident that the team was tired from playing on back-to-back days,” SVEC co-coach Jason Banks said. “The bright spot was the team's defense not allowing Newfield any good scoring opportunities and preserving the shutout."

The Eagles took 14 shots and held the Trojans to five. SVEC held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Sirron Irvin collected a pair of saves in goal while Kaleb Berggran had five for Newfield.

SVEC (6-2) visits Tioga (6-2-2) Monday.
