HIGH SCHOOL DIVING: OWEGO’S KATCHUK WINS DIVING INVITE IN RECORD FASHION; YOUNG FOURTH (2023-09-17)

OWEGO — Owego diver Kaelyn Katchuk dominated the 3rd Annual Owego Early Bird Diving Invitational, setting a new meet record in the process with 506.1 points.
Katchuk had established the meet record the previous year with a 488.75.
She also qualified for the New York State Diving Championships, exceeding the qualifying standard of 440. This year’s state meet will be Nov. 4 at the Webster Aquatic Center in Rochester.
In second place was Maine-Endwell diver Madison Morris, who also qualified for the state meet with a score of 448.1. Third place went to Ithaca diver Jessica Swart with a 417.8, marking the first time in the Owego meet that there were three divers over the 400 mark. Fourth with a solid performance was Owego's Ayla Young at 375.2 in her first 11-dive meet.
The next Championship Diving Invitational will be the "Girls Invitational in the Glen" Sept. 22 at the Watkins Glen Aquatic Center.
