STAC GIRLS SOCCER: OWEGO ROLLS TO FIFTH SHUTOUT, 6-0 START (2023-09-16)

Tioga County Sports Report
OWEGO — The Owego girls soccer team continues to excel at both ends of the pitch, scoring its fifth shutout while improving to 6-0 on the season Friday night.

The River Hawks found the back of the net six times in the first half en route to a 9-0 STAC victory over Seton Catholic.

All-state attacker Erin McDonald recorded her second 5-goal performance of the season while Section IV’s stingiest defense refused to let a single ball penetrate the goal.

Ashlyn Dalton provided the Hawks with the game-winning goal just 88 seconds after the contest started with McDonald picking up the assist.

McDonald would follow up with a hat trick, banging out unassisted goals at 29:19, 26:19 and 15:27.

Dalton chalked up an unassisted goal at 10:47, then Cassie Doane tallied unassisted at 1:14 to give Owego a 6-0 cushion at the break.

Ebba Lindhout came off the bench to feed McDonald for a goal at 36:36 of the second half, then McDonald put away her final score of the evening at 26:46.

Taylor Dalton would wrap up the scoring with 1:03 to play.

Owego took 26 shots and had three corner kicks while Olivia Dodge made one save in goal.

The Hawks’ string of regular season victories extended to 11 games with the win. They’ve outscored their opponents, 54-5, during that span with a half-dozen shutouts to their credit.

Owego (6-0) travels to Norwich (1-4) Wednesday.
