NEWARK VALLEY — The SVEC field hockey team snapped a three-game skid Thursday, defeating Newark Valley, 7-0.
Dallas Fanning recorded two goals and three assists, and Demi Mouillesseaux scored a hat trick for the Eagles to lead the charge.
Demi Mouillesseaux scored her first goal unassisted at 4:48 of the first quarter then tallied on a feed from Fanning at 2:39.
Fanning got her first goal at 7:02 of the second period, then assisted on Mouillesseaux’s hat trick with 2:39 remaining in the half.
Kendall Gentile made it 5-0 with an unassisted goal at 10:28 of the third quarter.
Fanning picked up her second goal at 8:04 of the final stanza with Sarah Quinn collecting the assist.
Aubrie Kastenbuber put the final score into the cage at 6:33 with Fanning notching her third assist.
“We were able to move the ball well tonight,” SVEC coach Abby Gentile said. “I was really happy to see some passing sequences that led to high-quality shots and ultimately goals. We hope to gain some momentum from this game and carry it through to our game on Monday at Marathon.”
The Eagles outshot NV, 24-1, and held a 7-2 advantage in penalty corners.
Grace Guiles made 15 saves for NV with Teagan Akers picking up a pair of defensive saves. Katelyn Klym had one save for SVEC (2-4).
Newark Valley (0-5) hosts Maine-Endwell Monday.
