ENDWELL — Sophia Tiberi registered a hat trick to lead Maine-Endwell to a 4-2 victory over Owego in Section IV field hockey action Wednesday.

It was the Spartans’ second consecutive win over Tioga County team after nipping SVEC, 2-1, in overtime Tuesday.

Tiberi recorded her first goal of the game with an assist going to Makenna Chudacik. The pair would team up again for an insurance goal late in the game, giving Tiberi her hat trick.

The River Hawks tied the game at one on a goal by Lexi Cheeseman with Mikayla Wilbur earning the assist.

Tiberi scored an unassisted goal to put M-E back ahead, 2-1, but Owego tied the game again on an unassisted goal by MaKenzie Comparetta.

Lizzy Maraski tallied late in the third quarter on an unassisted goal, giving M-E a 3-2 edge.

Chudacik and Tiberi hooked up one more time, with 36 seconds in the final stanza, giving Tiberi her hat trick.

Both teams took five shots on goal and the Spartans held a 6-5 edge in penalty corners.

Paige Olenski made four saves in goal for Maine-Endwell and RaeAnn Craft had three for the River Hawks.

Owego (2-2) travels to Section II Friday to take on Homer (1-4) while M-E (2-2) heads to Newark Valley (0-4) Monday.
