OWEGO — Lexi Cheeseman recorded a hat trick as Owego defeated Tioga, 7-0, in Section IV field hockey action Tuesday.

Cheeseman’s first goal would be all the River Hawks would need and came at 10:49 of the first period.

Gabriella Boehme added another score at 5:25 as the Hawks took a 2-0 advantage into the second quarter.

Cheeseman would add two more goals to her tally while Ashleigh Steele would contribute one goal and out two assists, and MaKenzie Comparetta scored one goal and handed out one assist. Keira Lane added one goal and Ava Brown dished out one assist.

RaeAnn Craft made two saves in goal for Owego while Chloe Gillette collected 10 for the Tigers.

The Hawks held a 17-2 advantage in shots and had 14 penalty corners to Tioga’s three.

Owego (2-1) visits Maine-Endwell this evening.
